Julia Stokes, Literacy Subject Leader, Greenfield Primary, Tameside

Literacy Consultancy 2015-16

"I have really enjoyed working with Emma Caulfield and have just completed a year of training with her. She was employed by my school to support me in my new role as English leader. The school was ina vulnerable position with an imminent Ofsted looming and no clear system of teaching writing. Emma identified our strengths and areas for development and introduced us to a 'Talk for Writing' approach. She lead staff meetings alongside me, team taught and planned units with us. It wasn't long before we started to see the improvements and benefits for our EAL children. In addition to this she supported me in action planning and evidencing the impact for my own professional development. The teachers across the school really enjoyed the planning time with Emma and liked her approachable, relaxed yet informative manner. Our writing results have improved considerably and we are now looking forward to a more consistent and productive year ahead. We have completed our year with Emma and now have clear visions and next steps to take our school further and as English leader I feel more than confident in achieving this. We will definitely invite Emma back to our school to support with writing moderation in the future and have purchased her book 'Planning to teach writing' to continue to support us in our planning."
